The AI4DigiT consortium brings together key actors from academia, government and the business community:

The partnership combines academic and research expertise, artificial intelligence know-how, public digital infrastructure and regulatory expertise, as well as direct access to Albania’s business and SME community.

About the project

AI4DigiT is a European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence and digital transformation in Albania, with a particular focus on tourism and cross-sectoral digital transformation.

The project aims to provide an integrated support environment for small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups and public institutions, helping them assess their level of digital maturity, adopt advanced digital and AI-based solutions, strengthen their skills and connect with the wider European digital innovation ecosystem.

A distinctive feature of AI4DigiT is its focus on promoting AI solutions adapted to the Albanian language, while also providing practical support on compliance with the EU AI Act and GDPR.

Main objectives

AI4DigiT aims to:

• operate an AI4DigiT Help Desk providing guidance on digital transformation, the AI Act, GDPR and funding opportunities;
• assess the digital maturity of companies and identify their digital transformation needs;
• support businesses in testing and adopting digital and AI solutions before investing;
• provide introductory and advanced training to strengthen AI and digital skills;
• guide organisations towards national and European funding opportunities;
• connect Albanian businesses and institutions with European AI infrastructures, including AI Factories, Testing and Experimentation Facilities (TEFs) and the AI-on-Demand Platform;
• raise awareness of artificial intelligence, digitalisation, data protection and the green transition.

Services for businesses

• Through AI4DigiT, companies will have access to an integrated portfolio of services, including:
• Digital Maturity Assessment – assessment of the company’s current level of digitalisation and identification of areas for further development;
• AI & Digital Solutions Journey – development of a tailored pathway for digital transformation and AI adoption;
• Test Before Invest – opportunities to assess and test technological solutions before making investment decisions;
• AI Act & GDPR Support – practical guidance on compliance with the European regulatory framework for artificial intelligence and data protection;
• Skills & Training – introductory and advanced training on AI and digital transformation;
• Access to Finance – guidance on national and EU grants, bank financing and other financial instruments;
• EU AI Infrastructure Gateway – matchmaking and connections with European Digital Innovation Hubs and EU-level AI infrastructures.

Expected results

During its three-year implementation period, AI4DigiT aims to deliver more than 200 services covering advisory support, compliance, training, matchmaking and access to finance. Expected results include digital maturity assessments for 65 SMEs, support on AI Act and GDPR compliance, specialised training activities, tailored digital transformation journeys and referrals to European AI infrastructures.

Through these activities, AI4DigiT aims to accelerate the digital transformation of Albanian businesses, promote the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence and strengthen Albania’s integration into the European digital innovation ecosystem.
