On Wednesday morning, April 7, 2021, an “online” conference was held on “Partnership Bridges and opportunities to promote trade in the field of agriculture between Albania and China.” In his opening remarks, the Chinese Ambassador to Tirana, Zhou Ding, stressed  that based on the traditional principle of friendship, economic and trade cooperation between our two countries is deepening. “China remains one of Albania’s main trading partners. Our Embassy has worked diligently to facilitate exchanges and collaborations between us. “We have made progress but there is still great potential to be exploited, especially in the marketing of agricultural products,” stated Ambassador Zhou. Among other things, Ambassador Zhou Ding noted that despite the pandemic, imports of Albanian agricultural and food products to China continued to grow.

 

The Director of the Directorate of Programs for Agriculture Development, Food Security and Rural Development at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Pjerin Shoshi stated that China is one of the most powerful economies in the world and an important economic partner of Albania.

 

In her speech, the general director of the Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development, Frida Krifca, focused on the Albanian agricultural and food products that are liked by the Chinese consumer, distinguishing honey. She noted the help given to Albanian farmers to bring to market quality products.

 

The representative of the Chinese side Chen Lizhen acquainted the participants with the achievements of the Chinese economy of the last year, focusing on the bilateral economic-trade cooperation. She called for increased co-operation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

 

The Secretary General of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Albana Laknori stressed that Albania must create a good climate for Chinese investments. She said that in the future Albania is expected to expand the range of exports of agro-food products, such as honey and meat, to China.

 

At the end of the event, Albanian companies, honey “Morava” and dairy “Lufra”, introduced the participants with their products, expressing interest in finding trading partners from China. There were also presentations of Chinese companies of agricultural and food products. The conference was organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Albania and the Trade Office of Ningbo Municipality.
