Awareness Event on topic “Tools for the Development of Bioeconomy”

On Friday, June 7th, 2019, in the premises of the Centre of Technological Transfer for Agriculture  in  Vlora, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tirana held an Awareness Event on subject “Tools for the Development of Bioeconomy”, in which participated representatives of businesses from the olive oil production sector and of the Centre of Technological Transfer. This event came in the framework of the project “BIO-ECOnomy Research Driven Innovation” with acronym “BIOECO – R.D.I”. The project is supported by the interreg ADRION Programme funded under the European Regional Development Fund and IPA II fund, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tirana participates as the Project Beneficiary.

Main goal of this event was to disseminate the project idea and aware the participants on the important tools that will be generated by the “Action Plan” of the project.

Mrs. Viola Xhindi, Head of the Project Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tirana, welcomed the attendees of the event and highlighted the commitment of the Chamber with such project to support bioeconomy development for the sector of olive oil production, being focused in the existing businesses and the new ones as well.

Subsequently, Ms. Elida Boshnjaku, Coordinator of BIOECO-R.D.I project, presented briefly the project idea,  presented the current situation of bioeconomy in Albania mentioning the challenges that businesses are facing with the biomass management and the importance of developing innovative biomass byproducts. Then Ms. Boshnjaku put emphasis on the “Action Plan” as important tool that will bring forth the project with initiatives such as counseling, mutual learning, seminars, knowledge and technology transfer, best practices, networking at national and international level, possibilities of cooperation etc, which aim is the approach to a model for circular economy.

Consequently, the Director of the Center for Technological Transfer of Agriculture – Vlora, Mrs. Aulona Veizi congratulated the project and expressed the interest and availability of her institution to cooperate for such project, to support and promote understanding of the topic and benefits of the project for businesses. Also other participants showed interests on the topic, making questions and presenting their points of view.
